my central heating system doesnt start up when you switch it on the fan and pump trys as the pressure drops a couple of bars and i have stripped the pump out and its not siezed, but there is a buzzing noise from the board as well and when you turn the system off the bars return to 1,5.the pressures fine the pump seems fine do you think its the pcb board or something else i can check any ideas thanks gritman

More likely to get a reply if you explain clearly whats wrong.

Dropping two Bar from 1.5 Bar is just not possible.

sorry ,as if its the pump siezed ,took pump off and its free movement.spins fine had water in chamber ,doesnt have no burning smells nether.the fan on top spins and i wd40 it.now rebuilding the boiler.so i was thinking it could only be down to the pcb board or could i test something else before i buy a board?

As you are not Gas Safe registered, you should not have opened the combustion chamber to access the fan!

WD40 is very flamable and should never be used on a gas boiler!

The only good advice is to get a proper Gas Safe registered engineer to diagnose the fault and check that the boiler is still safe to use after your involvement.

i have rebuilt this boiler before my friend put a heat exchanger in.the gas side i dont touch as i can only do hot and cold water,i also replaced the high limit thermostat and the heat refectors in the chamber last year,,asfor the fan i spun and dried it that was week ago

A DIYer should not be replacing safety devices like O/H stats and should certainly NOT be opening the combustion chamber!

well im afraid i did and it ran fine and saved me 700 pounds,i also rebuild fighter jets,so im not on here for a fight just advice so i will get the multi metre out and check the if its a solenoid on the board i will freeze each one find which it is then take it off and replace it from rs Components and replace it ,was that to advanced oh twenty pence that costs not 300 pounds for a gas fitter thanks for your help not

Being rather abusive to people who could give you advice is not the best way to get advice!

Listening to see which component is buzzing and then using a knowledge of electronics to work out where the problem lies might be more fruitful !

Tony

thank you i wanted to work back from the board to erase any other problems before stripping the board at work, sorry for being rude, next year i will replace the boiler because they are rubbish.

You need to listen to each component with an insulated listening stick to see exactly what is making the noise.

Then use an understanding of electronics to determine whats actually wrong. The buzzing component itself is rarely the actual faulty part!

Although cheap to buy these boilers do seem to be fairly reliable. The parts though are very expensive!

the heatexchangers and the saftey valve seem to be the weakest part of the boiler we have a componants bay were i can test the board ,but can i u link the water pressure switch as in by pass it to see if the boiler kicks in before i go to the board
