I have a VW Gold 1.6 16V 2001, it runs perfectly apart from intermittent starting, it will turn over sometimes but just not fire up. a taxi driver said the coil in the solenoid could be cracked, making it start usually when cold but not so good when hot. can anyone help, and does anyone know what its likely to cost? had VW do lots of diagnostics on it, re-code keys etc. still happens? would a solenoid problem show on the diagnostics?
