I insured my Bora with a 90BHP engine as confirmed by the insurance on their database for the registration and also on the AA's car history check I did when buying it.

The engine oil websites and the car's service book tech label state 74kw which is 100BHP.

Can someone explain this to me please?

I've looked in the log book and the BHP isn't stated!

Agreed, look for the three letter engine code (AXR) for example, and research the engine output from there.
The code is on a sticker in the boot left hand side and on the top timing belt cover, often enough.
John :)

Called in at the local VW main dealer and they confirmed for the car reg and engine code on the log book, the engine is 100BHP.

I'm baffled why the car was registered with a 90BHP engine.
