Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent walk-in shower enclosure? It needs to be for an area of 1700 x 900mm. I'm basically looking for an 'L' shape screen. We have had Daryl before which was a good make, we've also been looking at matki but they're both really expensive. Whilst I want decent quality, like most people I don't want to spend the earth.

cheers

Having an 'L' shaped screen really does boost the cost up I imagine and also limits your choice somewhat.

Daryl are a very good manufacturer but as you say, very expensive. Showerlux seem to be a little more reasonable but to be honest, the type of thing you're after is always gonna be expensive, not to mention installation costs, for a screen that size, you may need 3 men and there are always huge risks of damage when installing glass that size.

I maintain that it's a glaziers job fitting these screens, but still do them myself, the Majestic screens are ridiculously heavy

Is there any reason why you can't go for a single fixed panel? Even the lesser brands are OK as it's simply a section of glass.

the only reason we want an 'L' shape is to stop the water shooting out to the side, if we can achieve this then it means we can hang towels in the sectioned off area without them getting wet.

B&Q do a screen with a hinged 'L' that forms a partial door, expensive though.

You're probably looking at well over £1k to get something from a Manufacturer.

How about enquiring with a Glazing company?

I know that Camberley Glass can make Bespoke Shower screens, not used them for this personally but might be worthwhile giving them a buzz, they are on the A30 in Camberley, right near to the Meadows roundabout, I use them a lot for cut to size Mirrors.

Actually I might give them a call myself! I need a single fixed glass panel. I will report back and let you know.

Edit: Bolst3r, I just gave them a call for my project which requires a 2000mm high x 1000mm width panel, with wall channels, this came in at £242 for the glass and £157 for the wall channels. That was a trade price though.

yeah I know Camberley glass, spoke to them a couple of years ago when I needed an acid etched door - quite helpful.

That's not a bad shout but how would the return be joined to the main panel? surely it needs to be water tight unless you're doing a wet room and this is where the enclosure manufacturers have you by the b***s

They have some clever adhesives - that's how they make frameless fishtanks which have to support considerable pressure which is present at all times.

When I spoke to the Lady today I enquired about having a second panel joined on and she said no problem but I didn't get a price.

I'm gonna look into this a bit further as there is a Pilkingtons in Basingstoke
