It's a myth. Keep the damp out keep your family free from damp related health issues. Why subject your family to Dickensian health problems just because you want to play at the 'Good life'. Go back to your loopy forum, tom. You don't belong in this century.

A house correctly built with lime and regularly maintained is a more healthy environment than the modern equivalent. Will last longer too.

Don't be silly.

lime is considered to be less harmful to human health than many of its modern counterparts:

■ lime plaster is hygroscopic (literally means ‘water seeking’) which draws the moisture from the internal to the external environment, this helps to regulate humidity creating a more comfortable living environment as well as helping to control condensation and mould growth which have been shown to have links to allergies and asthmas. The American College of Allergies suggest that 50% of all allergies are aggravated or
caused by our ‘polluted’ internal environment, thus lime creates a healthier living space.

■ lime plasters and paints are non-toxic, therefore they do not contribute to indoor air pollution unlike many modern paints.

Like I've already said "you don't know what you are talking about" best you move on.

Joe-you say stop the damp coming in, which i agree, but how do you suggest stopping penetrating damp? i mean second floor of a gable say? if it was york stone. By using that brick seal stuff?

You shouldn't have a house full of moisture. Why try and correct a problem you shouldn't have? Sort your damp issues and the wall covering is of no importance. Join the 21st century and stop making people ill.
