Drain hose rises 3'+. There is no sound from the drain pump but tub continues filling, water level doesn't rise. This happens after wash cycle has drained, but also sometimes during initial fill before wash cycle.?!

This once happened to me after I'd had the W/M out. I noticed that the machine had been filling for at least 20 minutes but hadn't overflowed. Turned out I'd shoved the flexible drain hose too far down the waste pipe. Seemed as if it was syphoning water from the machine as fast as it came in. When I withdrew the hose to about 6" from the top the problem went away.
