Washing machine door won't unlock

Hi guys.
The in law has a 2 year old washing machine (don't know the make yet) where the door has locked and they can't get the washing out. All other functions work ok & even drains, but the door lock won't unlock.

Is there a standard way to unlock the door as I'm half tempted to disable the security lock???
