door locks after cycle - hotpoint washing machine

I have a brand new hotpoint washing machine, when it completes the wash cycle the door remains locked. have tried shutting off when finished but does not work, only way that it will unlock is to unplug it. Will I have to do this after every wash?

are you allowing for the time delay (usually 2 or 3 minutes)?

When did you last buy a washing machine? All machines nowadays stay locked for about a minute as safety feature.
