Waste size for sink

Whats the standard waste pipe size used for connecting from a sink? In this case, its for a bathroom sink.

Ive seen 35mm and 40mm but not sure which I should be using?

32mm for a bathroom basin which will fit into a 1 1/4" trap .

on Ebay there seem to be many 35mm ones... I wonder if its a miscalculation issue going from imperial to metric?!
