water hammering vibrating

Hi All,

just joined today and was wondering if anyone can help

I live in a 3 bed semi with a shared water mains, i.e next door has the main valve outside it goes into her house then onto mine, most nights at about 11 ish and sometimes in the morning i get this hum/trumpet noise from the mains not hammering/banging obviously if i open the mains it goes, but when it wakes me its the last thing i want to do !!

she tells me she has the same, and it hasnt always been like it, now, if i turn off my mains in my house i still get it

any help or device i could fit to stop it it would be great

Sounds like a plastic ballvalve somewhere.

but what i cant understand it is generally at the same time, i will ask if this is when she goes to the toilet
