I have water squirting out under pressure from the auto air vent on my G/S 440. This can be stopped by tightly screwing down the plastic cap on the top of the valve, but I am worried that this will prevent it venting properly. Could anybody advise me please ??

Thanks for the reply nickso, and that's exactly what I've done. The boiler was only installed 26 months ago ( yes two months out of it guarantee 
), there are no other issues as its working fine. Would you suspect it's just the AAV that's faulty despite it being so new ? Is a possible cause of failure particles of crap in the mains water supply affecting the seating of the valve ? Any other advice, i.e. is it a common occurence on this model of boiler or AAV ?
