Hiya, a little exagerated but hey ho... can any yoder wise person point me in the right direction please......
I have no idea what the source of the problem is and wether work to date may have resolved the problem or part of the problem.. oh the problem is 'water'
I have a very old house - conservation area with a front porch and a wooden front door. I think water was getting in last year and a roofer sorted out what he proposed the problem to be and yes the mold that was growing in doors stopped and all things got painted and all was fine and dandy for a good few months!
Okay now the problem is back - so perhaps the wet rot then turned into dry rot and the inside door frame has carcked and is dry rot, have ripped this out and exposed the old stone wall of the house and it all looks pretty dry. A bit of mould but have killed that off with vinegar.
I'm just not sure what to do who to ask for help, would a surveyor be a good idea?
The outside of the house ground level has a border I believe that the numpty that put this in has put the earth above the damp course so should imagine that wont be helping things at ground level where the mould is inside? (I've lived in the house for 2 1/2 years and now suddenly this is happening)
My thoughts on that was to dig down and remove the earth and then put some plastic leaning against the wall to keep the wet earth from direct contact from the walls?
Blimey I'll be amazed if anyone replies, rant over just can't seem to get 'trades' through the door to help!!!! aarrrrghh - thanks you for reading

Don't at this time have an answer regarding your problem, yet if you are of the belief that the earth border is elevated above the dpc, then that will on your behalf need further investigation. Another point would be to kill off mould or fungal growth with an anti fungicidal wash or a mild solution of household bleach, if the latter around a cupful to a gallon of water.

I think you'll find that the unusually wet weather is making the problem worse. It'll no-doubt dry out later.
BTW, the rot in your door frame is only wet rot, and a simple repair for a general 'property maintenance' man.
