Hi all

first post, so be gentle... And excuse the spelling :D

I have a single storey rear extension to the back of my terrace property (was there when it was bought) which has a 1/2 brick external wall with no dpc. The floor is concrete. On the inside the walls are bare at the moment (again bought like this).

I have no damp coming through or up the wall (no damp problems). The walls are in good condition. I want to however ensure things stay that way. So while everything is bare, I wanted some advice on my options on preventing the impact of damp. I would ideally like not to eat heavily into internal space and be cost effective.

Things i have originally planned are:
- rendering the external wall to prevent pointing damage and water ingress.
- tanking the internal walls and floor to mitigate against any rising damp.
Or alternately
- injecting a dcp (how does this work? anyone with experience? will it work with a 1/2 brick wall? is it expensive? Is this best left to specialist to do?)

I might be totally off the mark with these, so hence the call for help. ;)

I should add I am generally happy to do the non-specialist (i.e. almost anything except plastering/rendering) work myself and am generally a capable DIYer.

Thanks in advance!
