Hi all

2008 Worcester Bosch 40cdi regular fitted. House was solid walls no insulation.

2026 Insulation at 43% (50mm celotex) added by me to rooms. Will also rise as /when I do 1 or 2 rooms each year refurbished.

I had that fun thing Google Gemini suggest I go to Service Menu, and change heating now to 60/100 instead of 100/100 as over powered for new state of house today.

Just done the change to 70/100 so will see affect and whether Wiser Hub (on eco/ smart with wiser trv's) notices and i see longer times to heat or x.

What confuses me is why noone ever told me this was an option (to change power for heating and leave 1.B hot water at 100%) as must be literally millions of houses out there with oversized systems as people all adding insulation.

Guess not a popular topic, anyway two days in to setting change and all fine in my house not noticed anything, which tells me boiler was happy at 28kwh running our heating.

I'll wait a few weeks and if all good, set it to 60/100 as test 2.

You may now get a lot of boiler cycling as its minimum output is ~ 8.5kW.

Presumably the exact opposite, as not firing at full blast to then hit it's target temp so quickly when wiser actually only wants 2 of say 17 rads heat.

Anyway I'll update as said in a week or two. But why noone giving this advice hmm, if a 45 second hit on a few buttons can reduce kWh usage by 3% annually, you would have a million plus signing up to that youtube video.

Hi there, now remember the fun background here, is WB at their cost came out with no contract/ warranty expired and replaced the mother board and other parts/ PCB as admitted the boilers in a set range had firmware issues. So my PCB/ main board is 2023. Anyway if helps you Rob ->4131172.

A bit of a cryptic menu to access, and quite amusing how google Gemini AI started this off by recommending it as an efficiency option and had I considered it, but it then got the key codes wrong, worked out is was spanner for ten, then ECO to 1.a, then chimney sweep then save it.

I wonder in say January 2030 for those reading this forum, how many other people are going to be here, saying some stupid AI told them to this that or the other!!!

Ah ok, that's the CDI Conventional (regular boiler) which was in essence the precursor to the CDI Classic range.

These boilers, even the later CDI Classics, were never really shipped with a menu per sé or designed to be range rated, though as suggested they do modulate. That being said if you have managed to find a means to set the board and drop the max output, then well done you but it was never detailed as an option IIRC.

I would gas rate it though just to confirm that it has actually been downrated.
