All home automation topics are welcome.

Some examples:
  • Wifi light bulbs
  • X10
  • ZWave
  • Nest
  • Hive
  • Arduino & Raspberry Pi
  • plus many many more

Any technical questions about heating controllers like a Nest, Hive or Evohome would usually get better replies from the heating engineers in the Plumbing and Heating section.

Home automation is becoming an important part of modern living, offering greater convenience, improved security, and better energy management. When planning a new home, it is worth considering smart lighting, security cameras, automated switches, and energy-efficient systems from the beginning. Proper planning during construction can make installation easier and reduce future modification costs. What is done in India is not likely the same as what is done in the UK.

Automation can help, but also it can switch on the wrong things, hey google turn on Linda's spot can instead of turning on one light, can turn on all in the living room, which is in a way OK, as I know it has happened, so can also turn off all, and start again. But having a out side light turn on, one may be unaware.

Again not so bad, but turn on my AC or oil filled heater, that could cause a bit of a bill, so I try to program in an off, timed with lights during the day, but to just say automation is good is not true.
