Hi All
Not posted on here in many years but need some advice.
Wife wants a new shower and has ordered an enclosure and a 900 x900 quad tray
She wants to have shower panels and has seen these ones made by wet wall which look decent.
Tray does not have an upstand.
Looking at the installation instructions it looks like you have to cut the panels around the tray providing 3-4mm gap between panel and tray.
There doesn't appear to be anything you can buy to seal the tray at the bottom, so would have to buy something from a shed. I really don't want this to leak as it is a shower in the loft and the only real weak park is going to be at the top side of the tray all round. Do I need to tank the bottom?
Do you reckon the 3-4mm gap and cutting it is only necessary where there is an upstand on the tray?
This stuff is only 4mm thick.
Question 1 is really do it cut it around the tray or just go straight on the floor, I can't see any gain on this bit.

The second question I have is around the sizing, the tray is 900x900 and the shower enclosure is 900. Does this mean that I would need to buy panels that are 900 or would that be a bit too close? I can get 1200 width but would have to cut each panel (not a massive problem but a bit wasteful if not necessary). Looking at the shower enclosure size it is 865-885mm. Would this leave it a bit close? Should I get the larger size and cut or just stick with the 900?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Lets say its good practice to tank these things, they are only 4mm thick, from memory the lip on tanking tape is around 10mm. Would this mean that I would have to ensure that the sealant bead width will have to extend over the edge of the tape which would mean a bead of around 8-10mm?
