I have a tongue-and-groove bath surround that I want to cover with self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles matching those newly laid on the floor.
Is this a silly thing to do?
I tested it with two tiles and they adhered pretty well - even the one that I heated and used to turn a corner (radius about 2"). Heartened by this, I completed the whole-tile laying but one tile looks unhappy and a bit loose... I can replace it but am concerned that the underlying t&g might be a bit uneven and not allowing all the self-adhesive to grip properly. I would like to use some extra glue to make this tile safer when replaced. Any ideas?
I foresee that the tiles on the corner curve will be under some stress too. Any comments on the use of the hot-air gun I used to ease the curving. I think it helps the tiles to stick a bit better. Is this so??
All suggestions, especially those born of hard-won experience, will be gratefully received!
