what causes a shower cubicle to leak

if the shoer cubicle leaks is it because its put together properlt not alighned or is a poor silicon my plumber insists that leaks are common amd im worrying over nothing bit its constanly laeaking for last 12 months

also my water dosent drain away properly, why is that

not aligned and gaps to big between tray/frame.
movement in frame.
out of date silicone.
not siliconed to mi, some are bothsides some are just outside.

shower trays should can last yrs if sealed properly

has your waste always be slow to drain ?
if so bad waste pipe layout.
