Can anyone help me identify this piece of kit - found in the loft of our new house. Only suggestion received so far is "water pressure balancer" - if that's right, how should I use it?

expansion vessel with filling loop attached.

you have a pressurised heating system and that is how you fill it up. should have between 1 and 1.5bar pressure when system cold. a 1/2 to 1 bar pressure rise is normal when hot
