Hi all, I found some thin slivers of what looks like brick in the garden this morning, right next to the house wall.

I can't see anywhere in the wall brickwork that's coming away but looking at the roof it looks like there is some sort of capping on the sides of the edge tiles and it may be that?

Any ideas what this is and if it's a big issue that needs fast repair?

Thanks

Yes it need repairing as it’s exposed to the elements. It’s called the verge and it’s made up of a sand and cement mix. You could opt for a dry verge, but this could prove a little more on cost.

The problem here is the verge was bedded the pointed in two different mortars .
The verge should be pointed in the same mortar used to bed it .
Done correctly it will outlive any dry verge
