Going to paint the fascias and replace the guttering around my house but they aren't wood and they aren't UPVC either. They have been painted in bright blue and so look awful. Would a regular exterior gloss on top of the existing paint after rubbing down be OK or can you recommend a system
The house is a early 60's semi

Many thanks

Adam

When you say 'look awful', do you mean just the colour or is the paint also failing/peeling?

Without knowing what the substrate is then it is difficult to advise on which paint system to use and I wouldn't like to say whether it is ok to sand the surface just in case the substrate is hazardous, eg asbestos.

If you can clarify what material the fascias are then it will be easier to advise.

If you wish to continue you have been advised with regards to the possible risks, wet abrade with 400 grit wipe clean and allow to dry then apply one or two coats of crown solo gloss.

Or you could use barn paint, its water based so you'll get two coats on in a day, easier clean up and good obliteration.
