I`ve just bought a technics sceh790 hifi & the manual says that the front speakers are fitted with 2 woofers & 2 superwoofers. I`ve only heard of woofers that output frequencies from around 40hz & subwoofers that output frequencies between 20 to 40hz, so what is a superwoofer? is it just a fancy name for a woofer?

And can anyone tell me how I can plug 4 devices into the amplifier when it`s only got 2 inputs, because i`m wanting to hook up my dvd,PC, DAB Tuner & turntable.

Ive already got an amp that was part of my previous system, so will that do the job? or has it got to be a AV Receiver?

Is the problem that your old amp doesn't have enough inputs though?

I'm sure you can get splitter boxes (much like you can get multi scart adapters) but you will obviously lose some sound quality.

The amp has 6 inputs & 3 outputs. So would it be ok to use an amp just for that purpose?

And I guess a superwoofer is just a fancy name for a woofer & not a Great Dane!

The OP was a pretty interesting question. Is super a name for a really big speaker? Or does super relate to a frequency level in the same way that Sub-woofer does?

I wish Wikipedia had an entry...

I think it's just a word used by the Marketing Depoartment to get people to buy the thing.

According to the specs, the frequency range on the superwoofer is 42hz to 50khz & the woofer is 46hz to 36khz.
