What size waste pipe to use?

Hi All,

I plan to run my sink waste 32mm pipe into my 40mm shower waste pipe using a reducer, then it will run into the main soil stack.
Can i keep it in 40mm pipe or does it need to be enlarged to 50mm pipe?
