What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

Not really, you began the tangent, I responded to the tangent. Basically, an EV for my normal usage would not meet my needs, except as a second vehicle. My need is for a vehicle able to be quickly, and cheaply refuelled, with an adequate range, whilst towing, one I can jump in a trust to not let me down, able to make a journey, when required, to the far end of the UK, none-stop. No EV comes even close.

You make a very good argument for a legal requirement for tachographs in private cars... :rolleyes:

You seem to be talking like that's a bad thing? Back then, it was the best, practicable CO2 reduction measure available to them (or any government) for cars. Now we have something better. It's a bit like moving from coal to oil, or town gas to natural gas. Things progress. You don't seem to like progress?

Exactly, it's the flexibility that will be sacrificed if EVangelists have their way. Late 2021 I drove to Czech Rep. the far side near Polish border. I more or less did the 1100 miles non stop with a few short bursts of sleep in my van. Driving day and quite a lot of the nights in winter, going through France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, into Poland and finally skirting around into the back door of Moravia, CZ. Only a couple of diesel stops on the way since filling up in UK (I didn't brim the tank, because the fuel got cheaper the nearer I got to CZ). Zero range anxiety. Very comforting knowing I had a tank of fuel with 800+ miles range (if filled) and not having to desperately hunt around of a working charger in the dead of night in foreign countries. Nor having to sit around for hours in sub zero temps waiting for the thing to charge.

No way would I have attempted this in an EV. Of course, my vehicle is just as happy doing what it usually does - potter around town. I don't usually do such long treks - though I have done a number of long journeys to souther France since then. It's the flexibility to do what you want with maximum convenience and minimum aggro that will always win out.

Apart from your trotting out the usual bowlogs "facts" - again, to hammer home your (non) point - you're using an example from almost 4 yrs ago?

Just goes to show that the scenario you use to pooh-pooh EV is far from the norm, or the frequent (y)
