Avocet is just an EV evangelist.
Ahhhh, this is exactly the original wit and repartee that I come here for...

Avocet is just an EV evangelist.
No I wasn't asleep, had you written it as a metaphor, I would have read it as such - you didn't...
Byebye, back in the bin you go.. Enough of your rants!
It must be true then.
They do put a phenomenal amount of time and effort trying to sell their beliefs. Suppose they have to do that to distract from being taken in by what the government says they must believe in.
I would be all for it if I was given one - wasn’t avocet given one

what an environmentally disastrous thing to do. nearly 50% of austrailias electric is still generated from coal (the most polluting form of generation). Apparently Austrailias electric averages something like 640g of co2 per kwh - that would be about 160g of CO2 per km (fast car with air con). @ReganAndCarter diesel van may not be as fast but would likely be less environmentally damaging"Much" quicker? Really? Have you any idea how big Australia is? I'd love to see your van do that lap in 9 days...![]()
both him and brigadeer were doing the same with me - it is very difficult and pointless entering into any discussion with the brainwashed. juwst because I think there is some shortfalls with EV's then apparently I am anti EV and given up on climate change or a denier or something and all manner of other stupidly exaggerated nonsense .
As it happens we will more than likely have an EV by the end of the year (or first half next year), and my house is covered in solar panels (more for environmental reasons than profit (there is no worthwhile monetary benefit in solar panels)) - I will also be keeping my old diesel van (if it passes its mot) for environmental reasons.
But hey - just because i am not 100% EV then i must be the anti christ or something

it seemed a rather stupid post and unworthy of responding to.No, I don't give the proverbial rat's ass whether you're pro or anti EV. There are plenty of other anti-EV folk on here, and I'm not bothered about them either. It's the BS I'm challenging. In Post#102, you made some claims that weren't true, so I challenged them. I'm still waiting for you to come back with some actual numbers but for some reason, you seem strangely reluctant to do that...
The offer's still there...![]()

my figures remain good, keeping my old van will be better than replacing it with a new EV
and to say that you don't give a "rat's ass whether you're pro or anti EV." is just hilarious, you're obsessed by them, i suspect you're just and always have been obsessed by cars,
I will have to do a post abut all my cycling (virtually double my vans annual mileage) OMG a cyclist caused you to slow down - LOL

I thought we were talking about CO2, nox particulates etc in the vast unpopulated Aus outback is not as concerning as a city centreAnd that's before we even start talking about particulates, unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, NOx, ammonia....

11 kg of co2 in a gallon of diesel, i can easily get 60 to the gallon in my old van which would be 114g co2 per km (that is a real figure not an industry lie) (even taking into account the inaccuracy of the mileometer)
in the heat of aus, i could beat 60mpg

OMG i used 11 from memory but is it more like 11.2 or something? and is that figure consistent and how does the 7% bio element (or is it B10 now) effect CO2 from a fossil source (oil from rape seed is just recently borrowed co2) not that i think we should be using arable land to grow fuel for stupid oversized cars! but it does alter co2 from a fossil base and that is what is mostly creating global warmingYou're forgetting that not all the carbon that comes out of the tailpipe comes from the fuel. You're also assuming complete combustion of the fuel. IF your van (you still haven't said what it is, yet) really COULD average 60 MPG on a trip like that, your CO2 emissions would be closer to 125 g/km.

And back to EVs, they accelerate really really fast, look how fast my EV accelerates, it makes me so excited - instead of pedestrians and cyclists and little babies in prams breathing in particles from diesels, they are now breathing in tyre dust
what we really need is cars over 750kg and 30hp banned - now that would make a serious difference
"Much" quicker? Really? Have you any idea how big Australia is? I'd love to see your van do that lap in 9 days...![]()
