It's an 11/2" multifit end. Do you think they would make a 1 1/2" trap that doesn't fit nominal 1 1/2" pipe?

If that is the case then they have made an 11/2" trap that doesn't fit 1 1/2" pipe which wouldn't be very clever.

It's Toolstation. If it doesn't fit then take it back.

Looking at the drawing the 43mm pipe wont enter a 1 1/2" diameter (38.1mm).

I think you'll be surprised that it does. I have fitted many push fit (41mm) and solvent weld (43mm) into several 1.5" traps.

I can't see anywhere on that drawing about 38.1mm

Many thanks for your reply. I will take the pipe with me to ensure that it fits. I get confused because i come from an engineering background where we normally size things differenlty. From what i have picked up on, the plumbing trade work on internal diameters and not external diameters. Ie 1 1/2" is the internal size and you call it a 1 1/2" pipe.

38.1mm is 1.5 in inches from an engineering point of view.

Many thanks for your advice on tightening the nuts on the plastic connectors, they appear to be fine now after a lot of faffing about, i struggled to get a good grip of them so i used crocked neck pliers. No more drips from the pipes so far

With all the faffing around the seal under the sink is now leaking. I tightened the nut inside the plug hole but it has not completely stopped. Whats a good way to stop the water leaking from this seal below the sink?

With all the faffing around the seal under the sink is now leaking. I tightened the nut inside the plug hole but it has not completely stopped. Whats a good way to stop the water leaking from this seal below the sink?

Check the seal for alignment, If good then either tighten more or replace the seal.

Thanks for your reply. I broke the Mcalpine screw and i have ordered another one off of Amazon. I cannot find a Mcalpine 113mm seal and 41mm screw from the same online shop. Toolstation and Screwfix dont sell them either. I have cleaned everything up and decided to reuse the seal and also using lots of silicone.
