What would cause my boiler to send a surge through the rads?

Any ideas would be welcome on my combi, a Vokera 20-80 RS Turbo, old faithful, regularly maintained new seals, fan etc.

Boiler runs fine post service but no one has been able to diagnose this fault..... it is periodic so means waiting around for it.

Every couple of hours or so the boiler temp slowly rises to about 70c then quickly (over 20 seconds I think) up to 98-100c and sounds like it pumps a short 2 or 3 second, strong surge of water through all the rads ( I can hear bits firing through the system). Boiler gurgles, pressure needle wobbles from 15 to 13-17 then it settles after 3 or 4 seconds and the temp slowly falls back to normal 40c until next time a couple of hours later.

This has been going on for a few months but is getting stronger and little more regular recently.

Doesnt happen while heating is on, just in between during the day and night. Doesnt seem to be make a difference whether the heating is summer or winter setting.

Anyone seen this before or have any ideas please?

Cheers virtual card behind the bar :)[/b]
