When to render an extension wall

Would you render an external block wall before or after fitting the soffit boards? I can see there being some logic to doing it before so that the top of the render isn't exposed to the weather, but that means that during the build there'll be a point where, if it was to rain, there'd be a chance of rain getting down behind the render?

Render after soffit has been fixed .
Plasterer then has something to work to ,
