I found this in our kettle this morning, along with several other similar fragments of the same plastic part - ignore the 1.5mm copper wire at the bottom, that just props it in position for the photo.
It's hard plastic, beige in colour, originally tubular, with what appears to be a thread on the outside and a thread in the inside. Outer diameter around 7mm, by 15mm long or at least this, the largest fragment seems to suggest that.
It was retained in the kettle by the spout filter. Nothing is missing inside the kettle, it cannot of got in via our cold tap, because it has am aerator on the end of the spout. All the rest of the Morphy Richards red jug kettle's plastic parts are black.
