I am using the dulux trade quick dry water based primer undercoat to cover old bare woodwork completely stripped and as it was previously dark stain the wood is 'dark brown', though completely sanded down and ready to paint.
Two coats just about cover and I have used solvent based satin in some rooms as the top coat. (The dulux undercoat/primer can be used for water based and oil based paint)
SO it is working as one coat primer and one undercoat, but...
I want to gloss the staircase and wonder if an oil based undercoat...one coat over one coat of the the water based primer would be better than the 2 coats of water based primer/undercoat. Would the oil based undercoat cover any better?
Or do I stick with the stuff I already have?
Any thoughts much appreciated.
