Whirlpool ADP 2440WH stuck on pre-wash

Could anyone help pls? My dishwasher light is illuminating the pre wash cycle (although it will move further round) and the start button is flashing but nothing is happening. Many thanks in advance

Count the flashes on the start light and post the result here.
Also post the two 12 digit numbers (first one begins 85) as this will identify the exact dishwasher.

Many thanks sleepyhead, but I think I fixed it. I looked back and saw a response to another question that you answered, and tried what you suggested...it appears to have worked. Many thanks for your help though.
