Whirlpool ADP5600PC Error Code 8-1

Hi

Got a problem with my dishwasher, it starts up fine, fills ok then when the first stage finishes it drains but then just stops and the light flashes 8 times. Put it in diagnostic mode and get 8 flashes followed by 1. Test cycle fails with same error. In the course of trying to fix it I've replaced the inlet valve and drain pump.

On the last time I tried it it sounded like the pump was trying to continue to drain when it failed. There is a bit of water in the sump at around the level of the optical sensor. Wondering now if the optical sensor has failed?

Any ideas?
