All, wondering if someone has experienced this before... I have a Whirlpool WIO 3O43 DLS dishwasher that does the following....

When power is turned on at the socket, without the on/off button on the door being on, (i.e so no power to select programme etc)
There is a rhythmic banging noise coming from the bottom of the dishwasher. I am assuming that its the Drain pump... but it is an assumption. This happens whether the door is open or closed.
When the programme is selected, the dishwasher programme works as intended, no matter which programme is selected and does what it is supposed to do.
When the programme ends, the noise (rhythmic banging noise continues )
I can turn the dishwasher off using the on/off button on the door and the noise continues. It will then stop when I turn off power at the socket.

Any ideas if this is indicative of a faulty pump, or could this be an issue with a circuit board in the dishwasher.... I say, a board, as I dont know if there is one or multiple.
I am thinking that this is either the drain pump is on its way out, or there is an issue with one of the controller boards, it just seems strange to me that outside of this issue, when a programme is selected and door closed, the dishwasher operates as it should.

Any ideas or confirmation of what could be the issue if others have experienced, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Leigh

It sounds like a valve opening and closing rapidly, causing rapid change in water pressure which creates the noise in the supply pipe. Some Anti flood devices work with the machine off.

Hi, thanks for the response... something else to look for when I get it out and open it up.... :)
