whirlpool dishwasher won't start makes noise

whirlpool dishwasher quiet partner I wont start. when you hit the start button it just makes a noise. all other buttons light up but won't do anything except the cancel/drain button which works after you hit the start button to shut off noise. model number DU1048XTPQ4. Hope some one has an answer. thanks.
