Whirlpool fridge fan

Hi, I have a Whirlpool ATC700/UK 15003, american style fridge freezer.

The fan has become noisy, there appears to be 6mm fore/aft movement in the shaft the fan spins from.

Is this too much play?,,,can it be repaired or do I simply replace the fan motor as a unit?
