Hello,

I have noticed some white deposits on our brickwork on our recent extension (8 months old).

Is this okay or does it signal a problem? It is on the front wall of the house and mainly in the mortar in patches. It is happening near a window opening if that makes any difference?

Also - the bricks used were engineering bricks.

Thanks in advance!

Search for efflorescence

It may be a natural occurance in the drying process, or the bricks were alowed to get saturated before laying, or afterwards.

You will have to dry brush it.

sounds like calcium leaching out of cement. won't do any damage, clean well and seal brick with thompson seal or like product.
