white glossed stairways and bannister help

hi any ideas/help greatfully revieved on this.

We have been in our house for nearly a year and time is nearly upon to attack the hall stairs and landing. The house is 15 years old and the glossing has not been kept on top of so is looking dull and yellowish. What is the best way to attack this?? we are thinking about painting the woodwork either satin white or reglossing.

Rub the gloss down, and either doit quick and dirty with a couple of coats of top coat, or be more proffesional, and do at least one undercoat first. Do a light rub down with 240 grit sandpaper between coats. Satin is fine to use, but it's a personal choice; have a go on a small section, and see if you like it.

No, both are fine to use, so it'll be your personal choice as to which finish you like best.

These days due to the make up of White Gloss it tends to yellow very quickly

There was a bad batch from Dulux a few years ago, but the modern stuff should be fine.

I have a Bannister which is oak up to 1st floor and pine up to the loft. Would like to vanish so they look the same. What is the best option for both Oak and Pine?
