Just read that the American sponsored FSA in Syria got a pasting from the head chopping Al Nursrah front mob, and to add insult to injury they nicked all the FSA's latest American supplied gear including heavy weapons like Howitzers and anti tank missiles.
The Yanks haven't been having much luck lately in the region, they spent billions arming the Iraqi army but as soon as the shooting started the Iraqi army folded and ran away.

If outsiders weren't pouring petrol on the fire by constantly feeding the chaos by supplying weapons to all these groups in Syria/Iraq the Assad government and other players in the region would eventually get the upper hand and restore some kind of order.
One lesson which should have been learned by now is that a bad government in Syria or Iraq is better than no government.
