I'm a total novice so some of my terminology may be incorrect but hopefully you'll know what I'm on about.

My boiler has stopped firing up for either hot water or heating. I opened it up and found the extractor fan at the top of the unit is not working automatically. I can hear the boiler trying to start when I turn on the heating/hot water.

If I manually spin the fan it will then kick in.

Would you know where the problem may lie - I guess the fan but then I thought the 'flu' may be blocked etc. Should I get a plumber in?

I'm afraid that what you are doing is RGI territory only, best you find a CORGI registered engineer. 8)
