I have installed new battery powers interlinking smoke alarms at home and no longer need my hard mains wired ones.I was just going to remove them and make the wires safe however I have just floored my loft and was wondering if I could use the hard wired smoke detector wiring to power my lighting in the loft ? If so what kind of connection block would I need .I would be basically just extending the cable end that was on the smoke detector to a switch then into a light

May have been better to consider the wiring before boarding the loft. But too late now!

As the junctions will not be accessible you’ll need to use maintenance free junctions. Have a look at Quickwire connectors, or
Wago connectors with a Wagobox enclosure.
Note: all junctions must be inside a compliant enclosure.

I have left space where the light wires from the rooms bellow are available to use if I could not use the smoke detector wires.Just trying to make use of the redundant wires instead of using a spur on a light.I will have look at quick wire connections cheers
