wiring a German cooker into a UK home

Hello,

I have a cooker with 2 black, 1 blue, 1 brown and 1 yellow and green wire.

Assuming that the cable has been connected following conventional European coding, then the brown plus two blacks will be the phases, blue the neutral, and green/yellow earth.

However, as was noted earlier in this thread, if you want to connect for single-phase operation, then you need to be careful of the size of the neutral, since it will carry the sum of the currents in each of the live conductors (something which does not happen with 3-phase). You will probably need to replace the existing cable with a 2-core plus earth type which is suitably sized for the single-phase supply.
