Wiring ceiling light to existing dimmer

I'm hoping this is a pretty simple question (I'm a novice)....I have an existing 3 way dimmer feeding 3 separate lighting circuits in my kitchen. 2 no arrays of recessed halogen spots working fine - on/off and dimming - but I can't get feed to ceiling rose to dim. It stays ON permanently (we're in a new home and there was no existing wiring to fitting to match up to).
Existing set-up at ceiling rose: 2 no live (brown) wires connected through an isolator and 2 blue also connected through isolator. How do I wire in the light-fitting? Am I being stupid?
Help MUCH appreciated!

ps - separate query: If I get this to work with a normal incandescent bulb, would there be a problem with a fluorescent? I seem to remember this being an issue with dimmers....

you can't dim a normal flourescent with a dimmer.

And I think I found reply to my query in a previous posting....
