Hi all,

I have just bought a replacement drain pump for my Zanussi washing machine. It wouldn't drain, so I took apart the filter etc and pump, then put it back together(gravel blocking it up!). It worked once, and then wouldn't drain again :? .

On taking it apart again, the insulation on the copper wire on the motor had bubbled and burnt. Any idea what could have caused this?

When I put it back together, I wasn't sure which way round the two red wires were supposed to go on the back of the pump, or even if it mattered, as its just an electrical supply for the magnet?

I would like to know before I fit the new pump!

Thanks

Wires burnt because the motor jammed up & overloaded, probably. The polarity should not be a problem, connect the pump either way.
