Wiring replacement pipe stat

Hi, At the moment I have a British Gas pipe stat which is currently not working. It is about 15 years old and it is currently wired as brown wire to 1 and red wire to 2.

I have bought a new pipe stat and it has wiring terminals C, 1 and 2.

How should it be wired up to the new stat? Thanks

Brown to C
