Hi there,

Just moved into a new house. There is a light switch downstairs and upstairs for the same light (stairs/landing). When the downstairs light switch turns the light on, the upstairs switch won't turn it off, and vice versa!

Is this likely to ve cured with a simple wiring tweak?

Thanks for any help.

Joe

I'll take some photos of the wiring at each of the switch plates and post later tonight.

They've been like that since we have moved in, I thought maybe it was a common wiring fault :).

I'm guessing it's probably been wired using two 'one way' switches and, if you are really unlucky, a single switched live cable coming from the ceiling rose to each switch meaning each switch can only complete the circuit and not extinguish it when the other has completed it.

Looing forward to the pics though.
