Hello,

In the process of preparing for a new ensuite

In this corner (next the stud wall) was a shower enclosure.

It appears water has got to it in the oast and some slight damage at the lower of the stud wall.

We will be having a shower enclosure here and our plumber will be installing some
plaster boards at bottom and some waterproof backerboards before tiling.

My question is the wood that is effected, is it possible to apply some wet rot solution and it will be ok?

Or do we need it fixing and if so is it a relatively easy fix for a joiner?

It generally feels ok although at the bottom it is a little bit crumbly but then I think when we had that section of floor changed to ply, I think it poss ripped a little off with the chipboard.

If you can stick a screwdriver in it and it can easily be broken away it probably ought to be replaced, if not then don't worry about it, presumably its from a historic leak and its dry now?

Not really but like I say the bottom is broken away a bit but not sure if that is from the oart of floor being pulled away?

Yes the leak was prov from shower enclosure/fitting but having new refitted so should be ok.

If we did have to replace, how easy is it to replace. Just thinking if cab fine someone to sort before we have our floor fitted on Friday/bathroom fitted

Regarding the bottom of the stud wall. When the joiner replaced the chipboard flooring where the shower was, it has occured to me it has ben cut right where the wood is above and with it being chipboard it is all crumbled at esge and was concerned if not getting full support now as i guess the chipboard flooring supported from the bedroom to the ensuite?

It is a smallish area just the panel where the shower was. Is this likely to be a issue?
