Hi guys,
Can anyone give me some advice on this one?

I have replaced the spindles on my stairs & I have a few holes I need to fill.

What is the best type of wood filler to use that will match a wood stain.

Are the matching filler & stains out there, I have had a look in a few DIY shops but no luck.

Thanks all

Thanks for the info mate,

Does anyone know what would be the best filler to use to do this

you dont say how big the holes or how many

in general you can take pva glue mix in loads of sawdust
[mostly sawdust] add some water based stain

if the hole is round stain it a bit darker then draw lines round
it in the pattern of wood grain if you do it carefully you wont
see it

but practice on scraps till you get the hang of it

and if you want to mix filler with stain
make shure they are both oil based or water based

big all

I find sander dust much better with pva than sawdust. ;)

funny enough dewy i use the dust from a belt sander
and it gives if you mix it in a tub comes out a mdf colour
when dry but obviously depends on percentages
