Hi All

My daughters play centre is currently about a year old and the weather has started to have an affect on it with the current medium oak colour finish looking patchy.

With this in mind, can anyone suggest a suitable preserver/protector? I know some preservers won't "stick" as of the properties of cedar being different to other woods.

Also, would I need to sand it all down before applying? It's a bit of a beast so hoping not but suspect I'd need to do something.

Thanks. KP

Do you know what was originally used.

Generally, mixing different types of finishes causes problems (I.e. if you put stain over oil it will likely cause premature coating failure).

Sanding would best if the timber has already started to weather, though if it is cedar you can just leave it to weather.

Pigmented stains or paints will give you the best durability, can't recommend a brand though.
