Wooden window frames - repair & cleaning advice

Hi

I'm trying to clean and repair the wooden window frames in my home and need a bit of advice. What is used as a seal between the glass and the wooden frame on the inside of the window?

Glazing putty? Could be wrong but think that's the stuff

It's just putty, or if you want to be pedantic "linseed oil putty". It has lots of uses other than putting in glass

Thanks both. I knew it was putty on the outside, but wasn't sure if it was something else on the inside
