hi there i wonder if anyone can help me before i get an engineer out, my problem just started tonight, when i turn on the hot water the boiler makes a ticking noise as as though its trying to light the pilot light, the red light just flashes and not hot water, same thing if i try the central heating,
i believe this must have something to do with the pilot but was just wondering if this is a major thing or could be fixed by myslef
any advice would be much appreciated

First check the water pressure then press the reset button on the front panel (red one) for about 5 seconds.

yes mate already done that water is at 1.5 bar and i have pressed the reset button in for 5 to 10 secs with the power on and off and nothing seems to have changed,,

the green power light is on and soon as i turn a tap on, either upstairs or down the red water light flasheds and there is a ticking sound as though its trying to light up,

if i can recall when it was working ok im sure when i turned the water on the red water light light up and so did the flame light next to it, so when i was running water i would have 2 red lights on, but at the mo as i said earier i just have a red water light flashing whislt ticking

If the spark electrodes are in good condition and you are getting a ignition clicking sound but no spark then suspect the spark electrode leads. May just need a service.

Check late night revelers have not turned off your gas supply if meter outside (I've found this once) or your kids haven't turned it off in cupboard under stairs (have had this once too). If you have a good gas supply, you are looking at an engineer visit to check ignition system and also check gas valve depending on findings of first.
